Six channels start with a map.

How we prepare and verify this content

Before assigning terminals, separate zones, load types and colour components. Then calculate per-channel current, simultaneous total power and required fault behaviour. Six channels can serve six monochrome zones, two RGB loads, one RGBW plus two monochrome zones, three Tunable White loads or other compatible combinations.

A colour component is still a power channel.

Addressable LEDs instead use data channels and separately sized power: do not confuse the data line with a PWM power output.

Every design must pass two checks.

The first is the individual channel limit; the second is the controller total. Six loads individually below their limits can still exceed aggregate power. Use actual voltage and the maximum simultaneous command allowed.

LUMA-6CH states up to 180 W per channel and 500 W total under documented conditions. The lowest limit among controller, supply, cable, terminal and load always governs the branch.

Plan common paths too.

Channel current returns through shared conductors and connections. Size inputs, returns and distribution for simultaneous total current, avoid loops and identify branch protection points. If multiple supplies are involved, explicitly verify references, isolation and controller compatibility.

Software is not cable protection. Do not use a software limit as the only protection for an undersized conductor. Configuration, electrical protection and physical rating must remain coherent after reset or fault.

Turn the map into a commissioning record.

  • Channel, zone, LED type and polarity.
  • Voltage, rated power and measured current.
  • Supply, protection and cable cross-section.
  • Software limit and restart behaviour.
  • Configuration version and test date.

This table reduces maintenance errors and makes every future load change verifiable.
