Use stages with explicit questions.
Engineering prototypes verify function. Design-validation units test electrical, thermal, mechanical and RF margins. A pilot batch verifies files, tooling, operator instructions and yield. Early production confirms that corrections work at a larger sample size. Do not merge these gates to save calendar time.
Control the configuration.
Release a complete package: approved BOM and alternates, Gerber and assembly data, drawings, programming image, test limits and work instructions. Assign revision identifiers and prevent informal file replacement. Every shipped serial number should map to what was built and tested.
Let yield decide the ramp.
Review first-pass yield, rework time, recurring defects and test escapes after every batch. Fix systemic faults before ordering more material. Inventory magnifies design mistakes: a controlled delay is usually cheaper than reworking hundreds of units.
