LUMA-6CH / Commissioning
Commission before effects.
How we prepare and verify this contentCommissioning should prove electrical safety and correctness before configuration and appearance. Inspect with power off, test one channel at a time with conservative limits, identify colour order and data direction, measure maximum load and hand over a documented configuration.
First power-up starts with measurement.
- Match supply voltage to load rating.
- Verify polarity, continuity, absence of shorts and torque.
- Check each output reaches its intended load.
- For addressable LEDs, verify DIN/DOUT direction and common reference.
- Record installed strip type, length and power.
Start with a conservative limit.
Start one channel at low intensity and verify it matches the map. Increase gradually while checking current, voltage at the far end, connection temperature and uniformity. Test simultaneous combinations only afterwards.
Save a recoverable baseline configuration before creating scenes or automations. If an effect makes it hard to identify active outputs, return to static levels during diagnosis.
Each load type has a characteristic error.
| Type | Test | Common fault |
|---|---|---|
| RGB / RGBW | Red, green, blue, white individually | Wrong channel order |
| Tunable White | Cool, warm and blend | Swapped channels or excessive sum |
| Addressable | First pixel, sequence and full load | Direction, data level, power injection |
Colour appearance also depends on strip, LED binning, diffuser and environment. A controller can correct levels and curves but cannot make physically different components identical.
Hand over a verifiable configuration.
- Channel map and connection photographs.
- Supply model, protections and loads.
- Measured currents in the worst-case scene.
- Configuration backup and firmware version.
- Local recovery and maintenance procedure.
Test failure states. Final acceptance should also include network loss and power restoration: essential lighting should not depend on internet availability.
